Maratea lies in the east side of the Policastro Gulf. The village is built on the slope of the mountainous coast and is worth of a visit. A statue of Jesus Christ 22 m tall on a hill (630 m) is conspicuous, in the night too, because from June to September the statue is lighted. In the harbour there are public and private moorings. Good all-round shelter. It is possible to moor at the “molo Nord” (see map) (visitors’ berths) with licence of Maritime Authority.
